TitleRoman Coin Hoard, Boston Spa
DescriptionHoard of approx. 200 silver coins, imperial to Hadrian (27 B.C. to 138 A.D.), contained in a small, rough pot. Found in the summer of 1848 when digging the foundations of a house in Boston Spa belonging to John Farrar. York Museum recorded the find spot as being one mile from Rudgate and 50 ft. from the main road. Grid ref. approximate. 172 coins and their container given to the Yorkshire Philosophical Society, the collections of which now form part of the collection of Leeds City Museum.
