TitleRoman Coin Hoard, Smalley Bight Farm
DescriptionHoard consisting of 7,198 AE 3 coins, dating from A.D.306 361 and apparently in mint condition, contained within a jar. Found on 31 October 1905 during ploughing at Smalley Bight Farm. Exact find spot unknown; grid ref. centred on Smalley Bight. A number of coins from this hoard are in Wakefield City and Leeds City Museums, but most are probably still in private hands including, in 1970, 700 in the possession of Miss Wheatley of Smalley Bight Farm.
