TitleRoman Coin Hoard, Outwood
DescriptionHoard consisting of an immense number (Parsons, 1834, p. 22) of coins, contained within a Roman pot which had been covered in some fashion. Schroeder (1851) gives the combined weight of the coins as 62 lbs. Included issues of Constantine I, Constans, Constantius, Crispus, Licenus and Maxentius (A.D. 306 361,) with city coins of Rome and Constantinople (Schroeder, 1851.) Found in 1812 while digging up a field at Outwood. Exact find spot unknown. Some of the coins are in Wakefield Museum.
