This row of cottages was the subject of a building survey for proposed listing by the Calder Civic Trust and Hebden Bridge Local History Society in 1975. The field work record sheets describes the cottages as a row of six houses built from squared rubble with quoined angles and a stone slate roof. The windows were narrow and of five lights with square mullions. The doors also had square surrounds. The chimneys were on the roof ridge. A possible first floor taking in door was present in one of the gable walls. The surveyors considered the row to be little changed and a good example of its type ascribing a 1750 60 date ( Calder Civic Trust and Hebden Bridge Local History Society. 1975. 'Bottoms (1 11). Cragg Vale').

1 11 Bottoms, Cragg Vale was the subject of an archaeological assessment by Lucy Caffyn in 1982 for the WYAS/RCHME Workers' Housing Survey. A photographic image was produced. This is held by WYAAS (Caffyn, L. 1983. 'Cragg Vale, Mytholmroyd. Taken during course of WYAS/RCHME Workers' Housing Survey'). No associated fieldwork report for these cottages was identified in WYAAS archives.
