TitleThe Hollins, Warley
DescriptionA polished greenstone axe, found in digging foundations of a barn at The Hollins, Warley. O.S. reported in 1964 that The Hollins is a large private residence at the cited grid ref. There was no barn in the vicinity in 1964, but there probably was one once, as a barn 'at the Hollins' which belonged to a Mr Dearden of Hollins, is recorded as demolished pre 1775, when Roman coins were found (see PRN 1791). Roth (ref. cited below) says the axe was found some while before he wrote (i.e. pre 1906).
