| Title | Bronze Age Ring Ditch |
| Description | Positive cropmark of c. 13 m. diameter ring ditch with a broad ditch. Considered most likely to be a round barrow but possibility of some other function must be allowed. Lies 30 m. north west of a second ring ditch of 10 m. diameter (PRN 1346). Neither shows any discernible relationship to a ditched lane c. 100 m. to the east (PRN 626).
In March 2003, WYAS excavated the three barrows. Although no central burials survived within the areas bounded by the barrow ring ditches, Barrows 1 (SE 3767 3276) and 2 (SE 3765 3281) each contained features which may represent the ploughed out and/or re cut remains of grave cuts. A single sherd of possible beaker pottery was recovered from a shallow pit in Barrow 2, indicating that the feature may have once contained an Early Bronze Age Beaker burial. The ring ditches of barrow 1 and 2 appeared to have been re cut, and other later features included the severely truncated remains of an early medieval inhumation which had been inserted into the upper fill of the ring ditch of Barrow 1. |
