TitleGreave House
DescriptionTwo cinerary urns containing burnt human bones, found in a field adjoining Greave House, Midgley. In the vicinity was found an extensive layer of burnt earth and charcoal. The urns were presented to the Bankfield Museum by Mr. Murgatroyd of Greave House. Exact provenance and present location of the urns was not discovered during field investigation by the O.S. in the 1960s. The Bankfield Museum records offer no siting evidence and the urns cannot now be traced. The O.S. reported after their field visit in the 1960s that there were no mounds or cairns in the vicinity of Greave House.
