Title | Caley |
Description | Well documented medieval settlement of Caley from c.1280 onwards, includes Caley Hall from 1649 onwards. The latter was 16th. or 17th. century but reportedly extensively altered and added to by 1961, and demolished by 1963. Name survives in Caley Farm and Caley Farm Cottage (SE 231 448) and the medieval settlement may have been no larger. It is not known whether archaeological remains survive either in or around the existing buildings. Possible fishponds (PRN 1443) to south of Caley may be late in date. |
