TitleBlack Moor Top
DescriptionAPs taken under very light powdering of snow appear to show up the very low earthwork of an oval enclosure, estimated c.100 m. long and c. 50m. max. width. Although categorised as an earthwork above, this is probably barely discernible on the ground as it appears to have been ploughed in the past. The regularity of the present fields suggests a late enclosed area and the oval feature was formerly cut by one of the field walls now gone.
Ian Sanderson visited area to immediate south west 17/2/1994 in connection with planning application 94/62/90054/W6 for a 9 hole golf course. This did not affect the site of archaeological interest. (See file P/K/1994) Land was improved pasture, which apparently had all been ploughed in last 20 30 years (conversation with farmer).
