Title | Causeway Farm, Warley |
Description | Causeway Farm, Warley. House with 17th century origins. Associated barn is dated 1627. Causeway Farm was the subject of an archaeological assessment by Colum Giles in 1980 as part of the WYAS/RCHME Rural Houses Survey. The photographic images produced by the assessment are held by WYAAS (Giles, C. (WYAS/RCHME). 1980). The fieldwork record card is transcribed below: 'Stone house. 17th century. Partially rebuilt in the 20th century. South front elevation is modern but with features in original positions which suggest a three cell linear plan with hearth passage. Outshut at rear is a modern feature but north door of passage has 17th century surround square head etc. Window in east gable at loft level. Four light, recessed, spayed mullions shows house was originally one and a half storeys (like near by Raw End?). Barn is dated 1627 and is set at right angles to the house. 'V' brace trusses with diamond set ridge'. (Giles, C. (WYAS/RCHME). 1980. 'Warley. Causeway Farm'). |
