DescriptionStable Block to Walton Hall, Walton. Probably contemporary with c.1768 Walton Hall

'Stable block. Probably contemporary with Walton Hall (q.v.) c1768. Dressed stone, stone slate roof. Single storey. Rectangular on plan with open central courtyard. North and south elevations both have 2 tall segmental archways leading through to courtyard with rebate for doors. Other doorways and windows have plain stone surrounds. Square gutter brackets. Hipped roof. East elevation has elaborate central gabled doorway with engaged Tuscan columns, triangular pediment and open quatrefoil above with smaller circular hole to apex of coped gable. Later added farmhouse to north east corner not of special interest'.

An application was made by the owners of the Walton Hall to the Historic Buildings Council for England for grant aid in 1978. The Inspector for the Historic Buildings Council for England considered the building to be worthy of a visit. The Inspector's report is held by WYAAS.
