TitleOld Globe Inn (demolished), Wakefield
DescriptionOld Globe Inn (demolished), Wakefield.

WYAAS archive holds black and photocopies of photographic prints which depict the Old Globe Inn during demolition probably during late 1980s (Anon. c.1985). The inn depicted is three stories tall and four bays wide along the elevation fronting Westgate. The building has the appearance of a pair of matched town houses with the ground floor altered to provide public house accommodation. The front of the building is rendered, the south west gable wall is of brick. The windows of the front elevation's first and second floor are tall, graduated in size (the top floor being shorter) and have projecting sills. There are four regularly spaced windows to each floor. The roof is gabled with a two ridge chimney stacks, one in the centre and one on the south west gable wall. The ground floor is also matched as a pair with a door to the left and a curving bay window to the right in each section. The door cases have a 19th century appearance with foliage scroll brackets and cornice. The fan light window of the right hand door is painted with licenced retailer information.
The Globe Inn is depicted and named in the mid 19th century at this location (OS Wakefield Town Plan. 1:1056 scale. c.1850).
The area now forms the northern edge of the Albion Mills Retail Park (OS Master Map 2011).
