Warley Wood was the subject of an archaeological assessment by Colum Giles in 1980 as part of the WYAAS/RCHME Rural Houses Survey. The photographic image produced by the assessment is held by WYAAS. The brief fieldwork record card describes the house as a 17th century stone house with 18th and 19th century alterations and additions. It has recessed splayed mullion windows at the front and rear, some with semi circular arched lights. The house was later subdivided into cottages (Giles, C. (WYAS/RCHME). 1980).

No.2 Warley Wood received a grant for repair work in 1996. The work was monitored by Philip S. Ryley and Co, (Chartered Surveyors). As part of the process, Philip S. Ryley and Co worked in consultation with Peter Thornborrow (Historic Buildings Officer. WYAS) who provided advice ensuring the repairs were undertaken to a suitable standard. The photographic images produced as part of the consultation process have been retained by WYAAS (Philip S. Ryley and Co. 1996).
