Title | Grotto Terrace, Warley |
Description | Grotto Terrace, Warley. Mid to late 19th century short terraced row. WYAAS archives holds a photographic images of Grotto Terrace and adjacent Hock Cliff (Farm?). The images are associated with the WYAS/RCHME Workers' Housing Survey possibly taken during an archaeological assessment by Lucy Caffyn c.1981. The images depict Grotto Terraces as a row of five two storey terraces with the main front facing south. All the frontages are the same with a single light window to each floor with a doorway to the right. They are stone built and the roof is gabled. They appear on OS mapping after 1849 (OS 6' 1st edition. 1850. Sheet 230: OS 6' 2nd edition. c.1894. Sheet 230). The terraces may be associated with Holm House Mill 240m to the south west, as a footpath leads directly from the houses to the mill site. Hock Cliff is the subject of a separate record: PRN 13223. |
