Upper Height was the subject of an archaeological assessment by Colum Giles in 1980 as part of the WYAS/RCHME Rural Houses Survey. The photographic image produced by the assessment is held by WYAAS. The brief fieldwork record card describes Upper Height as a stone laithe house of 18th and 19th century build. Giles identified a row of splayed mullion windows typical of the early 18th century or earlier.
