Stone House was the subject of an archaeological assessment in 1980 by Colum Giles as part of the WYAS/RCHME Rural Houses Survey. The brief fieldwork record sheet is transcribed:
'Stone Farm: Date stone 'A W 1665' in later (?) build'.

House has east west linear plan with cross wing at western up slope end. Probably built of stone and of two storeys. Two long rows of multi light mullion windows visible on ground floor south elevation. One and two light mullion windows on western gable. Part of a farm complex in 1849 with other buildings (now demolished) to south of farm yard depicted at this time (OS 6' 1st edition.
