Peel House was the subject of a planning application in 1998 for 'Listed building consent for restoration of the cross passage involving some internal demolition' (Calderdale Council planning reference number 98/00052/LBC). The architect’s plans and explanatory photographs associated with this application have been retained by WYAAS (G.G. Lee. 1998). Peter Thornborrow (Historic Buildings Officer. WYAS) provided the consultation response.
Thornborrow considered this to be a model application and gave full support. Thornborrow’s early inspection of discovered panelling confirmed that these were the original partition timbers. Thornborrow provided design suggestions and asked for clarification regarding the plans of a proposed door (Thornborrow, P.H. (Historic Buildings Officer. WYAS). 1998).
WYAAS archives also holds a photographic print of Peel House attributed to Thornborrow from 1992.
