New Laithe was the subject of an archaeological assessment by Colum Giles in 1980 as part of the WYAAS/RCHME Rural Houses Survey. In the fieldwork record card Giles describes a house and laithe with mainly 19th century detail but also identifies windows and masonry in the barn probably dating to the 17th century (Giles, C. (WYAS/RCHME. 1980).
