TitleHaigh Cote, Warley
DescriptionHaigh Cote, Warley. 19th century laithe house.

Haigh Cote was the subject of an archaeological assessment by Colum Giles in 1980 as part of the WYAS/RCHME Rural Houses Survey. The photographic image produced by the assessment is held by WYAAS. Giles describes the building as a 19th century laithe house and observes a date stone; '1709 W M B' which may be from an earlier structure (Giles, C. (WYAS/RCHME). 1980).
The image describes a two storey, single unit house attached to a three bay barn. The roof line is continuous between house and barn. The barn is of a typical Pennine type with central arched cart entry and threshing bay flanked on either side by a mistal area with pedestrian entrances. The range is of coursed sandstone. The roof is hipped. The openings have square surrounds.
Haigh Cote is depicted and named in 1850 with some alteration (enlargement?) of the original building footprint and the loss of an associated structure to the immediate south east (OS 1st edition 6'. 1849. Sheet 215).
Building appears to be consolidated as a dwelling on current on line map resources (https://maps.google.com/. Web site accessed 09/01/2013).
