TitleField Head, Warley
DescriptionField Head, Warley. Rural house probably dating to the second half of the 18th century.

Field Head was the subject of an archaeological assessment by Colum Giles in 1980 as part of the WYAS/RCHME Rural Houses Survey. The photographic image produced by the assessment is held by WYAAS (Giles, C. (WYAS/RCHME). 1980). The brief handwritten fieldwork notes are transcribed below:
'Stone house, possibly second half of 18th century. One and a half storey, two cell house. ........... [word unreadable. possibly referring to a pre 18th century structure]. Only south wall survives. Possible central stack with fire hood. One small window (for fire area) with splayed reveals. 19th century heightening and rebuilding, addition of laithe'.
(Giles, C. (WYAS/RCHME). 1980. 'Warley. Field Head').
The fire hood and fire windows are more typical of features of the 17th century or earlier. As the house currently depicted on modern map resources, although derelict, has all four walls, the surviving south wall described above may refer to a feature belonging to an earlier house or phase (https://maps.google.co.uk/.
