TitleBarn at Ryecroft Farm, Tong
DescriptionBarn at Ryecroft Farm, Tong.

The barn, stables and other attached agricultural sheds were the subject of a planning application in 1997 for 'Renewal of previously approved planning application for the conversion of farm buildings to two dwellings' (Bradford Council planning reference number 97/01334/COU). The architect's plans associated with this application have been retained by WYAAS (Building Design Team. 1997. ‘Proposed barn conversion at Ryecroft Farm, Holme Lane Bradford. Plans as existing’).
The plans depict a range of buildings which surround a farmyard which open to the south. A two storey (with loft) stone built barn with a brick gable wall forms the northern part of the western side of the range. The eastern side of the range comprises a two storey stone built workshop. The rest of the range consist of single storey stone built sheds containing stables. The barn and stables interconnect thorough a series of corridors and passage ways. The barn also has a through passage with pedestrian entrances. It is likely that elements of the range were present in the mid 19th century, particularly the western side of the range, with significant additions in the 20th century (OS 6' 1st edition. 1847. Sheet 217. OS 6' 4th edition. 1948. Sheet 217).
