Title | Arable Field near Jackdaw Crag (West Field), Boston Spa |
Description | Arable field by Riverside path and West End Estate, Boston Spa with an adjacent area of pasture to the north west. According to the BSHAG the field has known finds of prehistoric flint scatters and also Iron Age and Romano British pottery. Cropmarks are also suggested by BSHAG to represent former settlement. c.15m to the west the Lower Wharfedale National Mapping Project records an Iron Age/Roman 'D' shaped enclosure. The field is included on the Boston Spa Archaeology and Heritage Group's Heritage List which will be incorporated into the Boston Spa Parish Council's Neighbourhood Plan and identified for preservation. |
