TitleLeys Lane E-W Hedgerow
DescriptionAncient sinuous hedgerow running in a straight line in an east to west alignment . The hedgerow is degrded but has a number shrub species including significant shade tolerant species that include Ramsons (Allium ursinum), a woodland indicator species. The hedgerow was identified by the Boston Spa Archaeology and Heritage Group and formed part of the 'Leys Lane Project' 2007 and is included in the report (PRNs 10098 and 10099). The BSAHG also suggest that this hedgerow may have been linked to a north to southt hedgerow (PRN 12781) to the north and together may fomr remnants of an earlier field system, possibly of Romano British date, an Enclosure Award or later enclosure date, can, however, not be disregarded.
The hedgerow is on the Boston Spa Archaeology and Heritage Group's Heritage List which will be incorporated into the Boston Spa Parish Council's Neighbourhood Plan and identified for preservation
