Description | Ancient hedgerow attached to another hedgerow to the north. The hedgerow is rich in both tree and shrub species and has significant shade tolerant species that include Ramsons (Allium ursinum), a woodland indicator species. the hedgerow was identified by the Boston Spa Archaeology and Heritage Group and formed part of the 'Leys Lane Project' 2007 and is included in the report (PRNs 10098 and 10099). The BSAHG also suggest that this hedgerow may have been linked to a sinuous east west hedgerow (PRN 12782) to the south and together may for remnants of an earlier field system, possibly of Romano British date, an Enclosure Award or later enclosure date, can, however, not be disregarded. The hedgerow is on the Boston Spa Archaeology and Heritage Group's Heritage List which will be incorporated into the Boston Spa Parish Council's Neighbourhood Plan and identified for preservation |
