Description | Ancient Woodland on steep sloping banks of the River Wharfe. According to BSAHG the woodland shows evidence of management in the form of frequently coppiced Hazel and there is also some evidence of lapsed coppicing in the form of a large ancient coppice ring of Lime tillia xeuropaeus. the woodland also has typical ancient woodland ground flora which include Early Purple Orchid, Orchis mascula. The woodland is included on the Boston Spa Archaeology and Heritage Group's Heritage List which will be incorporated into the Boston Spa Parish Council's Neighbourhood Plan and identified for preservation. |
