TitleGeophysical Survey at North Elmsall Hall Farm
DescriptionA geophysical (magnetometer) survey, covering 2 hectares of land at North Elmsall Hall Farm, was undertaken by Archaeological Services WYAS (ASWYAS) in May 2013 to inform the submission of a planning application for the construction of a proposed wind turbine.
The survey identified linear anomalies, interpreted as ditches, located at the eastern end of the track that will access the turbine, and across the main turbine site. These ditches probably form part of a wider field system of probable Iron Age/Romano British date which is already known to exist as cropmarks immediately north of the survey area (see PRN 874). Further linear trend anomalies were also identified throughout the survey area and are thought to represent ridge and furrow cultivation.
For further details please see the final report (ASWYAS, 2013) a copy of which is on file in the HER.
