Title | Stone Gate Piers to South Lodge, Boston Spa |
Description | Probable late 18th century listed sandstone gate pillars and rusticated limestone gate piers attached to the South Lodge of Wetherby Grange in the middle of the A1 roundabout. One of the pillars is topped by a carved oak leaf wreath from which rises a bear's paw grasping a severed human head (BSHAG 2013). The Gate posts are included on the Boston Spa Archaeology and Heritage Group's Heritage List which will be incorporated into the Boston Spa Parish Council's Neighbourhood Plan and identified for preservation.
