Description3, Benjamin Street, Wakefield. Early 20th century terraced house.

3, Benjamin Street was the subject of an archaeological assessment probably by Lucy Caffyn, c.1981, as part of the WYAS/RCHME Workers' Housing Survey. The fieldwork record sheet and sketch plan produced by the assessment are held by WYAAS. The fieldwork record sheet is transcribed below:
'Brick.
Roof thin slate; dentil decorations at eaves.
Windows: stone lintels and sills; at rear stone sills but brick voussoirs.
Doors: front door has a Gothic arch; fanlight.
Rear yard two W.C.s and ash hole belonging to house on Balne Lane; its own in no.5's yard.
Cellar and coal part and curing table.
Two principal rooms and two best bedrooms nested; scullery and set pot; bedroom above scullery is unheated.
Moulded skirting board to hall; plain to parlour and living room.
Moulded cornice to hall and parlour.
Living room has a stone flag floor laid on boards; boards on joists (on end) beneath joists plastered.
Ceilings: fly high.
Cellar 1.9m
Ground floor 2.89m
First floor 2.71m'.
