Title | Archaeological Evaluation, Woodacre Green, Bardsey |
Description | In July 2013 Archaeological Services WYAS (ASWYAS) undertook an archaeological evaluation, comprising of a geophysical survey (magnetometer) survey followed by trial trenching, at a site to the south of Woodacre Green, Bardsey. The work was conducted in advance of proposals to develop the site for housing. Both the geophysical survey and the subsequent trial trenching (which consisted of five trenches measuring 30m in length and 2m in width) confirmed that the development site has little or no archaeological potential. The only features recorded being two stone lined field drains of probable 19th century date, and a line of a modern drain or sewer. No fieldwork was carried out in the eastern part of the site as this was both very boggy and overgrown. For further details please see the final report (ASWYAS, 2013), a copy of which is on file at West Yorkshire HER. |
