DescriptionSummerfield (House), Wadsworth. Villa residence built c.1860. Now three dwellings.

Summerfield was the subject of an archaeological assessment by the Calder Civic Trust and Hebden Bridge Local History Society in 1977 as part of the Joint Survey of Buildings for Proposed Listing. The fieldwork record sheet is held by WYAAS.
The record sheet describes Summerfield as dating to around 1860 [no reference]. It is built of coursed rough faced stone. The roof is covered with blue slate. There are two projecting bays to the front with two light and one light windows to the 1st storey with arched and key stoned heads. There are two doors on the front with scrolled corbels supporting projecting lintels. There are four chimneys in front of the ridge. The plan form is rectangular [double pile]. Other architectural features described are a projecting string course, projecting corbels for gutter support. The house was formerly occupied by the owner of nearby Acre Mill.
