Web site accessed 06/11/2013). The barn at Wadsworth Royd was the subject of an archaeological assessment by Peter Thornborrow c.1990. The photographic image produced by the assessment is held in the HER (Thornborrow, P.H. (WYAS). c.1990). The Wadsworth Royd farm complex was also the subject of an archaeological assessment by Peter Thornborrow (WYAS) in 1997. The photographic images produced by the assessment which contain images of the farmhouse, associated cottages and barn are held in the HER (Thornborrow, P.H. (WYAS). 1997) (also see PRN 12924 and PRN 12926). This was probably in connection with the proposed application 'MAFF Country Stewardship Scheme Grant for the restoration of traditional farm buildings ref. 49/355/44’. Thornborrow (Historic Buildings Officer. WYAS) was supportive of this application, producing a combined report which described the Wadsworth Royd complex and Birchen Lee Carr farm (PRN 12923)(Thornborrow, P.H. (WYAS). 1997). A copy of the report together with Thornborrow’s research archive and correspondence associated with the grant application are held in the HER. Although the listing for the barn appears to be still active, and available to view on Engish Heritage's National Heritage List as of Feb 2014, a building recording report conducted by ASWYAS of Wadsworth Royd Farm in 2011 (see PRNs 12924 and 12925) makes comment that 'an aisled barn on the site was seperately recorded in 2009 prior to its demolition'. A copy of the building recording report for the barn is held by WYAAS, but (as of 21/02/2014) is still provisional and has yet to be accepted into the HER (report no. 2157). The modern GIS mapping (c.2011) shown the barn to have been demolished. |
