Description | Hill Top, Wadsworth. Early 19th century house and barn. Hill Top was the subject of an archaeological assessment by the Calder Civic Trust and Hebden Bridge Local History Society c.1975 as part of the Joint Survey of Buildings for Proposed Listing. The fieldwork record sheet describes the historic buildings at this location as a house and barn of the early 19th century [probably a farmhouse with attached barn in a laithe or linear plan]. It is built of coursed ashlar with a watershot construction with a string course. The porch is castellated with a ball finial. The roof is gabled with kneelers and copings. The chimney is a ridge stack. The barn has an arched cart entrance with a Venetian window over. (Calder Civic Trust and Hebden Bridge Local History Society. c.1975). |
