Description | Higher Crimsworth, Cottages and barn. Wadsworth. Row of late 18th to early 19th century back to back cottages and barn. 'Row of back to back cottages late C18 or early C19 now in dual occupation. Hammer dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. 3 rooms, double depth. Quoins. Each has doorway with sill tie jamb to left of 3 light flat faced mullioned window formed by 2 wide lights either side of narrower light. 3 square light windows over to 1st floor. Gutter brackets. Coped gables with stacks. 2 other stacks to ridge'. (English Heritage listed building description. Date listed 12/12/1984. http://list.english heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1226986. Higher Crimsworth barn was the subject of a planning application in 1989 for 'Change of use of barn to two dwellings' (Calderdale Council planning reference number 89/41/00020). Peter Thornborrow (Historic Buildings Officer) made an archaeological assessment of the site in 1989, probably as part of the consultation process. The photographic image produced by the assessment, which depicts house and barn, is held by WYAAS (Thornborrow, P.H. 1989). |
