Title | Falling Royd House, Wadsworth |
Description | Falling Royd House, Wadsworth. C.1900 double pile house. WYAAS archives holds a copy of a set of Architect's ground floor plans dating to c.1900 entitled 'Proposed Villa residence at Falling Royd' (Sutcliffe, J.). The plans depict a double pile house with hall entry. To either side of the entrance hall/vestibule are a drawing room and dining room. The entrance hall has a 'T' shaped plan. To the left is a stair to the first floor, the right hand corridor joins a passage into an extension projecting from the eastern side of the house. To the rear of the house are a ‘large room’ and lobby with lavatory and store room. The large room, drawing room and dining room have bay windows. The extension holds a kitchen, scullery, pantry, wash house and breakfast room. Joining the extension to the east is a conservatory. The house is depicted on the OS 25' 1st edition map of c.1894 (though not on the OS 6' 1st edition map of 1850. Sheet 230). The house currently occupying this position does not resemble the house on the plan and is probably modern (http://www.bing.com/maps/. Web site accessed 17/10/2013). The eastern extension to Falling Royd House and carriage house/estate buildings may have survived. |
