Peter Thornborrow (WYAS) made an assessment of Holywell Green Church c.1990. It is unclear from the fieldwork notes if the church assessed is the Sunday school which is currently in use as a church or the former 19th century Independent Chapel which was formerly present to the immediate north (house now occupy the site). The field work notes are transcribed below:
'Holywell Green Church.
Good stone sets to road. To the right hand against the stepped wall is a stone flagged pavement with curb stone. On corner are two large ashlar blocks forming a broad step in front of original entrance which has rusticated ashlar piers and a finely wrought iron gate. The wall to the road has chamfered copings topped by decorative iron railed cresting. The 'gate posts' are a screen wall to left and well constructed pier with a decorative pedestrian side gate which matches the other'.
