This former 1835 Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was the subject of an archaeological assessment by Peter Thornborrow c.1990. The photographic image produced by the assessment is held by WYAAS (Thornborrow, P.H. (WYAS). c.1990. 'Sowerby. Converted Methodist Chapel Cragg Vale').

The grave yard associated with this chapel was the subject of a watching brief in September 2010 during preparatory groundworks ahead of the construction of a driveway through the disused graveyard adjacent to Wesley House. During the watching brief, three family burial plots, each consisting of a brick and flagstone constructed vault, were indentified. See PRN10607 for further details.
