TitleCrabtree Field
DescriptionThis is a building on a southwest to northeast axis. The house is in the centre of a barn on the southwest gable and a porch on the northeast gable. The house appears to be in two phases, the 18th century and the early 19th century. It survives mostly intact with a stone slate roof. The windows are mostly blocked or boarded up.
The ground floor walls are small and irregular gritstone blocks and the windows are splayed with flush diamond mullions. The walls of the first floor from window cill level are constructed of regular gritstone blocks and the windows are slightly splayed with square front diamond backed mullioned windows. It is thought that the ground floor is 18th century and the first floor is early 19th century. There is a chimney stack in the northeast gable and the house is quoined at the angles.
Barn area to the southwest is mostly demolished but there is a cart entrance and a door in south elevation (the door is blocked to form a window). There was a door in the north elevation of the barn as well but the wall is now demolished.
