Description | Cast gilt copper alloy figure dating from the late 12th century to the early 13th century. These figurines were produced in Limoges in France. The figure represents a saint or apostle and would have been mounted to the the side of reliquary, box or cross with two rivets. The head is solid and leans forward slightly whilst the body is flattened and slightly concave on the back. The figure is dressed in robes and has his right hand raised in front of the body. Below the hand is a circular rivet hole, a second rivet hole would be present further down the figurine but this is has been lost. The object weighs 20.33g and measures 53mm in length and 21mm in width. A similar parallel can be found in the Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum Medieval Catalogue Part 3, by P.
