Title | Former Church School, Dalton Lane |
Description | Former Church School, originally associated with St Mary’s Church. It’s construction date is uncertain; the building is not visible on the 1st Edition OS map (surveyed 1848), however is visible on the 2nd Edition OS map (surveyed 1895, map sheet 185 SE). It is also marked on a map dated 1878 by B. Hopkinson (Sheet 17, Keighley Reference Library), indicating that the school must have been built sometime between 1848 and 1878. The building was photographed by WYAS in 1994; by this time the adjacent church had already been demolished. The school is not visible on either WYAAS’ GIS (02/02/2010) suggesting that it must have been demolished either in the late 1990s or early 21st century; this is confirmed by Google Earth (copyright 2009) which shows that the building has been replaced by a car park for the adjacent Dalton Mills (PRN 3652). |
