Description | Farmhouse, dated 1686. It is of two storeys and is built in coursed rubble masonry. The house has a double pile plan of two cells, and was supplemented by a cell added to the west in the late 17th or early 18th century, and by a further cell to the east in the 19th century. The early house retain much of its original fenestration; the windows have recessed splayed mullions, and the doorway has a dated and initialled lintel which has been later raised to give more headroom. According to the description by English Heritage (1986) some of the windows were transferred from a demolished 17th century house nearby. Inside the house are low ceiling beams, a stone ingle nook, stone doorways and a second stone fireplace. |
