Description | Public house and attached accommodation, dating from the 17th century originally but which additions c.1800. Built of coursed sandstone (part rendered), with a blue slate roof. L shaped in plan; north elevation fronts Market Place and has two bays of modern windows with a large inn sign set between (depicting portrait medallion of an 18th century gentlemen). To the right is the surviving timber shop front with pilasters and cornice. The east block is at right angles and has raised quoins with a 3 bay façade with arched stair window (WYAS, 1993). |
