Title | The Beeches, Bradford Road |
Description | Public House (former house). The construction date of the house is unknown, however a building labelled as ‘The Beeches’ is first visible on this site on the historic OS mapping of 1895 (map sheet 185 SE); the building is smaller than the current structure, however, and, by its form, probably represents the northern end of the current public house. As such, the building must have been extended (at least once) during the 20th century. The 1st Edition OS map (surveyed 1848, map sheet 185) shows a range of buildings labelled ‘Eastwood Cottages’; it is therefore possible that these cottages were demolished to make way for ‘The Beeches’ in the mid/late 19th century. |
