Description | Nos. 91/93: Bank, dated 1923; constructed of white terracotta with a blue slate roof. Prominent 3 storey building; bays articulated by quoin pilasters, rusticated basement with former monumental entrance (now window) has carved keystone. Window above, featuring richly carved decoration featuring an owl. Windows have moulded sills and architrave. Bracketed cornice, blocking course, and chimney stack. A stylish building of its period. Nos. 95 99: Cycling club and shop (dated 1896), constructed of coursed sandstone, with ashlar dressing and a blue slate roof. Built for Keighley Cycling club (founded 1884). 3 storeys and attic, with a decorated 4 bay symmetrical façade. Features a doorway to the left with a triple keystone and 3 light arched window retaining leaded lights. To eth right is a modern shop front. Each bay of the upper floors, however, are articulated by pilasters, have round topped windows and a carved plaque reading ‘CYCLING CLUB’. Jacobean dormers. Nos. 101 107: Two shops with accommodation above, dated c.1895. Constructed of coursed sandstone with ashlar dressing and a blue slate roof. 3 storey building with modern shop front on ground floor, set between original stone banded pilasters. There is an off centre doorway to No. 103 that retains elaborate carved arched frame with recessed door behind. Six bays of upper floor windows with sill and lintel bands; those to the first floor are corniced, as is the stone gutter. |
