(Text edited from English Heritage’s LBO description)
Crosland Lodge was built in the early 19th century as a villa for George Crosland. founder of the nearby Crosland Mill. By the early 20th century, however, it had become a Liberal club, and later a public house known as the Manor House. In 2005 the building was still in use as a public house, and is recorded as being in poor architectural condition. A planning application was submitted to refurbish the building, and convert it into residential apartments. Historic building recording (principally photographic) was undertaken by Stephen Haigh in June 2006 and March 2007. The building was noted as having an accomplished classical design but appears to have been altered in the late 19th century.
