| Description | Altofts Lock, Aire and Calder Navigation, Fairies Hill Cut, was built in the late 19th century and connected the cut servicing local quarries with the main canal. The lock has canted sides and is built of ashlar millstone grit. The adjoining bridges have rusticated segmental arches. For the most part, the site is now overgrown. The lock is included in the Local Buildings List (2008) for Wakefield. |
