TitleMonument to Jet in dogs' graveyard approx. 50m to north of Gothic Temple, Bramham Park
DescriptionThis monument in memory of a dog is situated approximately 50 metres to the north of the Gothic Temple (PRN 8598) at Bramham Park (PRN 3983). It was erected in 1764 and is built of magnesian limestone. There is a tall quatrefoil column with two annulets, a moulded cruciform cap, and a banded ball and cushion finial. There is a short cubic pedestal with the painted lettering (worn): ‘JET () LIES THE FAITHFUL’. The remainder of this lettering is now illegible, but it was reported in a former list to record the death of the dog AD 1764, aged 18 years (English Heritage, 1952).
