Title179 Sunbridge Road
DescriptionThis is a set of two mirror image warehouse pairs fronting Sunbridge Road with a secure yard to the rear. There are polite staircases to the Sunbridge Road front and plain stairs to the rear in the two central units. There are cast iron columns, wooden beams, and king post trusses inside the warehouses. The floorboards are particularly wide and thick, presumably as a fire proofing measure. There are original, or early, offices in the ground floor (Sunbridge Road) of the western most unit, with a polite fireplace in the open plan area to the front. There is a lift that is visible at the southwest rear of the easternmost unit only, and appears to be an insertion. All parts of the building were apparently served with loading doors and hoists. The upper floors of the east and westernmost units contain what appears to be inserted drying rooms. The layout suggests that each pair functioned as a single unit, with salesrooms/board rooms in the larger unit, and offices in the smaller.
In 2007, WYAAS visited the site in advance of a response for PA 07/04214/FUL, which involved the conversion of the warehouses in the 163 apartments. It is not known whether this conversion has taken place.
