Title | Barkerend School rear range |
Description | This range is to the rear of Barkerend School (PRN 8555) and was probably a separate school for a different age group. It was built in 1873, with a later 19th century rear wing, and is now disused. It is built of rock faced stone with ashlar dressings and slate roofs with coped gables. There are three coped ridge stacks; that in the centre with four square shafts set diagonally. It is built in early English Gothic style and is a single storey high. The windows have chamfered stone mullions and transoms, and most of the lights have rounded cusped heads. The interior was not accessible at the time of the English Heritage survey (2001), however, it was noted that there was a possible asbestos hazard. |
