TitleRoman Brooch
DescriptionRoman copper alloy and glass brooch. Stepped boss, central flower design with protruding central knob and outer ring of enamel arcade design, colours from central boss outwards, clockwise blue,yellow,blue,yellow surrounded by red in interspaces, un enamelled circular recess. Outer ring Y B B Y B Y B B Y B B with red in interspaces. 6 peripheral lugs around face. Sub rectangular suspensions loop proximal. Decorative irregular, circular lug at distil point (opposite chain loop) with central circular recess. Hinged pin (bent). Possible ‘MPO’ distil reverse? Catch plate intact. Discovered by a member of the public in a hedgerow at side of ploughed field 14/09/2000.
