Description | This is a row of early 19th century wool warehouses, a type of building that was virtually entirely rebuilt in the mid to later 19th century. No. 8 is of two storeys and is built of sandstone ‘brick’. It has a four bay front with two low gables flanking two central round headed windows. These windows are on a sill band and a flanked by flat lintel ones. There are two segmental, key stoned archways on the ground floor, which also have flanking windows. The other warehouses are of three storeys. They have close set windows, flat lintels, and either have flanking hatchways or hatches set to the right hand side at the front. They have flat lintel archways, and stone slate roofs with paired brackets to the eaves. |
